Update letter - May 2013

Written by Ben:

For the past two months we have been studying through the book of Ephesians with our home church. This morning as I (Ben) was outside having my prayer time, I saw a picture that reminded me of that letter. There were two trees in the woods. One had part of its roots exposed and was no longer able to support itself so it had begun to fall when it was caught by another tree. This reminded me of Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians. In chapter 3 verse 17-19 he says, “That you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height – to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge.” These trees reminded me what discipleship is all about. As one believer has strong roots, being grounded in love for God, they are able to support other believers while their roots are strengthened. Our desire is to see all of God’s children be rooted so deeply in love that they are free to stand firm despite whatever circumstances life throws at them. But, until that maturity is there, it is our privilege as disciple-makers to help support them until they can stand alone! Our greatest privilege is to be able to pray for you, and support you in any way we can. Please let us know how we can pray for you!

We have officially arrived at our new home in Robbinsville! This week has been about settling in. As we have spent time with Colin this week, we have begun to learn what our roles will be more specifically at ETM. Colin took Ben throughout the property to explain the projects that need to be done, as he is the Administrator of Properties. Colin will be training Jess in the next few days on the responsibilities she will undertake as the Office Manager. The message has been clear throughout this training that while we have projects with ETM, people must always remain the focus and are the controlling factor on all of our schedules. We are looking forward to some new opportunities that have come up as we begin to build relationships in this community!

With MUCH love and joy!
Ben and Jess
